25th May 2008 Steve & Anne

Steve & Anne, now Mr & Mrs Taylor, supporters of the Foundation since its inception, and in Anne's case, a long serving volunteer, asked their Wedding guests to make donations to MAF. Their beautiful reception, held at Bothwell Bridge Hotel on one of the hottest days of the year, May 25, raised over £500, a kind gesture that the charity appreciated greatly.

Our warmest good wishes to the newly weds! While March saw the charity receive the welcome news of increased core funding, so that stability seems likely for the period 2008-2011, we nevertheless will always rely on generous support such as this one from Friends of MAF who continue to be there for us over the years.

Eileen Munro helped MAF by launching her new book at the Tudor Hotel and donating part of the proceeds from her book sales. Eileen is a remarkable survivor who has had involvement with the charity for years. Her story is an amazing one which fully deserves the praise it received at the launch on August 7th, and its acceptance for publication in the USA as well as in the UK by Mainstream. Over 100 people came along to hear readings by the author and a launch speech by Andy Kerr, MSP and former Health Minister who took time out from a busy schedule standing for election as Labour Party Leader.

The highly inspirational night was also attended by Tom Clarke MP and Adam Ardrey, former MAF Chair and himself author of "Finding Merlin" acted as MC. After sparkling wine and an enjoyable buffet a cheque for £500 to help MAF purchase more of our "Safe Hands" booklets was presented to Chair Janet McGill and Sandra Brown by Karen Mitchellson and Sheena Morrow of Clarke UK Ltd. The local Coatbridge firm who helped MAF with a fantastic donation of £10K IN 2007, have dug deep into their pockets again to assist with production of more of these crucial resources.
